Elevando ambos os membros ao quadrado teremos:

[tex3]a^2-2ab+b^2=d^2 \Rightarrow a^2+b^2=d^2+2ab[/tex3] [tex3](iii)[/tex3]

[tex3]x^2=a^2+b^2[/tex3] [tex3](iv)[/tex3]

Substituindo [tex3](i)[/tex3] e [tex3](iii)[/tex3] em [tex3]iv)[/tex3] teremos:

[tex3]x^2=d^2+4S \Rightarrow x=\boxed{\sqrt{d^2+4S}}[/tex3]

[tex3]x=\sqrt{4+4.8} \Rightarrow x=\sqrt{36} \Rightarrow x=6[/tex3]
